Our PhD selection process will be a multi-stage process with details described below.


Stage 1:The first stage will consist of an online/written/programming test, which will test knowledge of core computer science subjects including (but not limited to) Data Structures and Algorithms, Basic Probability and Linear algebra and Combinatorics, Boolean Algebra, Operating systems, Architecture and Networks etc. The test will also consist of questions testing basic aptitude/reasoning skills. The goal of this test will be to evaluate your knowledge of undergraduate level fundamental concepts in Computer Science and Engineering. There will also be a programming component to the test where you will be asked to write simple programs in a language of your choice among the following set of languages: C/C++ , Java and Python. Your program is supposed to compile and generate the expected output, to score in programming questions. Those clearing the first stage will be asked for appear for Stage 2 on the following day.
Stage 2: This will consist of a written (subjective type) test in the morning (second day) followed by an in-person interview. Stage 2 will consiste of more detailed/advanced set of questions including testing the depth of your understanding, especially in the areas of your interest/proposed research.

Here is the rough timeline of how these stages will be conducted.


Stage 1: Online/written/programming test. From 02:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This will be on the first day of selection. You should report by 1 pm. Only those qualifying Stage 1 will be asked to appear for Stage 2 with details below.

Stage 2: Written test/Interview. There will be a written test in the morning of second day (tentatiely from) 8:00 am to 9:00 am. This written test will be non-qualifying (i.e., will not be used as a filter by itself). Followed by this, candidates will be appearing for an in-person interview during te period 9:30 am - 6:00 pm on the second day of selection.


Each of the above two stages will be conducted in 3 cycles. Each candidate meeting the shortlisting criteria will be required to appear for one of the three cycles. Details/timings of each cycle are described below. Each candidate should plan on staying there for 1.5 days depending on their selection cycle.

The list of shortlisted candidates has been generated using an automated script based on the information provided in the forms filled by the candidates. It is possible for these lists to have errors. The final offer of admission depends on the candidate meeting the shortlisting criteria given above. If your name does not appear in the list above but you think you qualify the shortlisting criteria above, you should plan on appearing for the test/interview in one of the cycles.
NOTE: A candidate should appear for the selection process if and only if he/she meets the shortlisting criteria.


Walk-in Candidates

If you could not fill the online form for some reason, but you satisfy the shortlisting criteria as above, you are welcome to appear as a walk-in candidate. In this case, please fill the following form with your details (this will be closed by May 10, 2019).

Accommodation Facility

Candidates coming for Test / Interview for admission to the various programmes in the Institute will be provided accommodation in the Hostels on sharing basis on payment of Rs. 400/- per day (lodging & boarding) as detailed below. The bedding is not provided and the candidates have to make their own arrangement for bedding. The Payment shall be made by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of:
