List of Candidates Shortlisted for Stage 1

PhD Applicants

MSR Applicants

The lists of shortlisted candidates have been generated using an automated script based on the information provided in the forms filled by the candidates. It is possible for these lists to have errors. The final offer of admission depends on the candidate meeting the shortlisting criteria given above.

If you believe there is an error in our shortlisting decision – either you were incorrectly included or mistakenly excluded – please let us know as soon as possible by sending a mail to (for PhD) or (for MSR), and plan on appearing for the test/interview if you think you qualify the shortlisting criteria.

Note: A candidate should appear for the selection process if and only if they meet the shortlisting criteria.

Selection Process

Stage 1: Fill in the questionnaire form whose link has been shared by email to all shortlisted candidates (make sure to check your spam folders). You must fill this form by 7th May, otherwise you may not be allowed to appear for the next stage of the selection process. If you meet the shortlisting criteria but were not included in the lists above, please inform us as soon as possible.

Stage 2: Those shortlisted are invited to appear for an in-person written test at IIT Delhi on 14th May. The exact location within IIT Delhi will be communicated soon. The reporting time is 11:00 AM, and no entry will be allowed after 11:30 AM. You must carry a government-issued ID with you to take the test.

Stage 3: If you pass the written test, you will be asked to appear for an in-person interview between 15th to 17th May. The candidates shortlisted for interview will be announced on 14th May after the exam, along with their interview dates. We will do our best to accommodate your preferred dates as indicated in the questionnaire, with priority for earlier dates given to candidates with addresses outside Delhi/NCR.

Onward and return rail fare in 2nd class by shortest route will be reimbursed for candidates called for appearing for admission to the full-time PhD programme (not sponsored or part-time). No TA is admissible to the candidates appearing for admission to MS(R).

Written test format

The written test will include two parts: an objective section, and an on-paper programming section. Applicants must pass both the objective and the programming sections in order to be considered for interviews. The questions in the objective section will be on basic computer science topics, including:

  • Data structures and algorithms
  • Hardware and software systems
  • Probability and linear algebra
  • Discrete mathematics and logic

A sample paper is provided below to help you assess your preparedness for the written test. Please note that the exact format of the test may vary.
